Greetings to all! This is a small look into digital media and a project for my social media and marketing class. I plan to return to WordPress in the near future for more article’s.
Digital media is unescapable in this age. Use it ,or loose touch with current ongoing trends. Digital media is the new news.

My current job as a Social media manger for AT&T forces me to interact with customers through various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. These platforms are tools for people all over the world to share opinions, connect with others and share media files. On average I work over 40 hours a week, so when I have free time I tend to stay away from these media platforms due to how demanding it can be.
My Most Used Platforms
Tik Tok
Gmail
Youtube
Benefits and Cons of Preferred Media
Tik Tok
This application at the moment is my favorite media. The app originally called Vine, and later changed to Music.ly for a brief period encompassed short clips for anyone to share and for the audience to interact with. Today it is still based off of this simple action; uploading short clips that can make anyone regardless of age, appearance or any other factor a viral sensation over night. This app has benefits of placing the audience right on the front line of trends in their regions and trends across regions. All in the span of 15 seconds or more videos are shown of recipes, news, talent, discussion, you name it. One major con for me personally is that it can become distracting and reduces my attention span. For hours on end I could find myself scrolling for the next skit which is not so helpful when focusing on task. Another con is that news fact are not always credible since much of it is from word of mouth.

YouTube
Now this is an app that dose it all. Youtube is really my one stop shop for entertainment. Youtube allows you to find music, sports, new, and content from influencers and other audience members that upload. If there is a video that you can think to search Youtube would be my first place to look. YouTube at times can be a sort of cinematic encyclopedia sharing tons of DIY (do it yourself), how-to, and other videos about various topics. Just like any other media a con is how reliable the information you are getting is from a credible source.

GMail
GMail, or Google Mail is simply a virtual mailing platform. From advertisements and coupons to important business details and job offers. I receive many emails so many that I have multiple to keep business matters and personal mailing separate. Emails that catch my attention in my personal email often are those from traveling companies such as Google Flights. These emails have ”Price Drop Alert” or ”Don’t Miss Out” and I have to at least glance at a possible sale on my next destination.

Certain media such as Tik Tok an other apps that show short clips are very distracting since all you do is scroll each flick of the thumb burst brain receptors with dopamine and causes me to struggle on focusing on longer task, but ultimately keep me connected and up to date with global and local aspects. Out of all the types of digital media I use them quite literally as a team not preferring one over the other to gather information formally and casually. All of these media platforms also share one major business component that allows anyone to become their own personal brand, marketing. In between scrolls, videos, songs, even in the content itself are advertisements and promotions from all sorts of companies. This has allowed audience members such as you and I to utilizes virtual communities to not only obtain a large following, but be paid for it as well.
